Science is one of the currencies used to unlock new buildings and decorations amongst other things.
Generating science[ | ]
There are currently 4 ways of generating science.
Research stations[ | ]
Each park may have one research station, this is a building that initially holds one scientist before being upgraded to two, then three. Each scientist stationed will passively generate science based on their speed and ability. To make a scientist start generating science drag and drop them onto the empty highlighted spot on the research station.

Science generation from guests[ | ]
Science presentations are buildings which can be researched and placed, an unlimited number can be placed at any time. When a presentation is staffed with a scientist they will deliver a speech to nearby guests as indicated by the timer above their head. Once this timer has completed science will be collected from all guests who were interested in the speech. This job relies on the speed of the scientist and their personality, to attract more people to listen.

Guests can also generate science by walking underneath a science gate, these are purchasable after being researched and can be placed on paths. When a guest walks underneath, the player is granted a small amount of science. For optimal gain, these should be placed in areas with high foot traffic, such as park entrances or small entrance ways. One can use the end of day heatmap to decide where best to place their science gates. There is no limit to the amount of gates that can be placed.

The bank[ | ]
Science can be bought at the bank for gold or hearts. 500 science can be bought for 6 hearts or 6,250 gold, likewise science can be sold. Buying and selling resources is not a 1:1 trade. The bank can be a good source of science for players who find themselves with too much gold.

Excavation[ | ]
Science can be gained by excavating it from portal expeditions, the lower down the layer is the higher the chance of finding bonus science. Science can be dug up in quantities of 500 or 1000, indicated by the laurel wreath around the 1000 science node. These nodes can be excavated like any other fossil, dig the squares on top of them and be careful not to crack them by digging directly onto the node.

There are currently 2 main uses of science
Research tree[ | ]
The research tree is the main use of science within Parkasaurus. It can be accessed by pressing the science icon on the top left tool bar. It costs a total of 346,280 science to unlock all of the technologies, not all technologies are purchasable immediately and most have prerequisite technologies which must be unlocked before they are accessible. Each technology has its own unique unlocks, some unlock more decorations or stores, others allow the player to sell new or better items in stores and others still attract more guests to the park or allow the player to access higher tier Dinosaurs.
Unlocking eggs[ | ]
Most dinosaur eggs will initially be locked to the player, the player can unlock new dinosaur species by paying a fee of science and hearts depending on the tier, with higher tier dinosaurs costing substantially more science to unlock. More about this can be read on Eggs
